Waymo, Zoox, Cybertruck – 5 Minutes at a San Francisco Intersection

For the past few weeks, they have been ramping up efforts by various robotaxi companies in San Francisco. Nothing demonstrates this more clearly than standing at (almost) any intersection in San Francisco and looking at the parade of self-driving cars. While Waymos already provide the regular driverless robotaxi service, the large number of Zoox vehicles is also noticeable.

I recorded the following compilation in the video at the intersection of Harris and 9th Street in San Francisco on September 28, 2024 in a 5-minute period between 1:34 and 1:30 pm. You can see nearly a dozen Waymos, 4-5 Zoox, and a Cybertruck driving past me.

This was not the only junction or the only part of the city where the robotaxis were impossible to miss. The vehicles are spread all over the city, making them almost commonplace.

The reality in San Francisco thus contradicts the opinions of experts in other countries, who believe that such technologies will not work or will only work in 10 to 20 years, if they are ever approved at all.
