Volocopter, German eVTOL company performed its first FAA-approved flight of a manned, eVTOL aircraft in a public environment during the AirVenture 2021 show in Oshkosh, US on July 27, 2021. Its appearance showed its inevitable intent to enter the US market like another German eVTOL company Lilium with air-taxi and freight operation services.
Visitors were able to get a close look at the VoloCity model as well as get a sneak peek at the cabin design. The piloted Volocopter 2X prototype took off for a four-minute flight and cruised in front of the crowd of AirVenture 2021 at around 165 feet and speed of 20 mph.
This demo flight is a significant step forward in Volocopter’s plan to raise awareness of air-taxis among populations around the world, and it is critical to the long-term success of delivering advanced air mobility (AAM) and urban air mobility (UAM) solutions.
